The new year is a time to reflect on the year coming to a close and our hopes for the year ahead. This looking ahead usually includes making a new years resolution, or an area of your life to focus your attention in the coming year. Here’s our selection of ideas and places to get a jump on your Cape Cod New Years resolution.

Hit the Gym

If you’re like many people this season, your new years resolution may involve getting back into shape after the holiday season. Body Strong has two locations, one in Chatham and one in Orleans. Private instruction is available at both locations with a variety of equipment and classes for members. The Orleans location even offers childcare with your membership. The Body Strong in Chatham houses Van Natter Chiropractic, so you can get an adjustment with your workout because spine health is part of your overall health and well being. If the gym is not your scene, Power Yoga of Cape Cod has locations in Harwich right off of Route 6 and Dennis on Route 28. Power Yoga offers classes for every experience level and the two locations make it easier to find a class that fits your experience level and schedule.

Earn More Money

If your Cape Cod New Years resolution is to earn more money, career coaching could be your answer. Career coaching can also help you become more organized at work. If you’re feeling overwhelmed while trying to prioritize tasks, or need help seeing the big picture in your career, Helen at Better Than Ever Coaching can help you in all of these areas. Helen has helped a number of local small business owners and professionals in our community to see the bigger picture and organize themselves so they are capable of making the decisions that will earn them more money.

“Me” Time

Whether it’s kids, your job or various commitments many people put their own needs on the back burner because they are so busy. A popular Cape Cod New Years resolution is to find more “me” time. There are plenty of spas throughout the Cape where you can get a relaxing treatment to take away all the stress from your busy life or treat yourself to a makeover. Brewster By the Sea has a spa package for everyone, and even offers prenatal massages for mommy’s to be. The Chatham Bars Inn offers a variety of luxurious spa services to choose from. While you’re in Chatham, stop at Salon Fabulous in Chatham and see Kelly to see how you can update your current style and start the new year out with a new look.

Travel

There are many great local travel agents on Cape Cod that can help you with your desire to travel whether it be domestically or internationally. However, you may want to consider a “staycation” on Cape Cod. Every year, thousands of people flock to the Cape on their vacations because we live in a beautiful and one of a kind place with so much to offer. If you would like to plan an escape to a beach side destination complete with pool, fitness center and restaurants that overlook the water, look no further than Ocean Edge Brewster. Take a look at our Cape Cod Vacation Rentals site and choose from our large inventory of Ocean Edge Vacation Rentals. If you want a classic New England experience in the center of an artist mecca with a spa, check out the Crowne Point Historic Inn & Spa in Provincetown. The Wequassett in Harwich is a Forbes 5 Star resort, the only on Cape Cod which offers a one of a kind experience. They are closed for the winter months, but open back up in the spring.

Eat Better

There are a number of restaurants on Cape Cod that prepare locally sourced seafood and produce. Karma Foods on Route 6A in Brewster is a brand new restaurant that opened up this passed summer that is known for its vegan and gluten free choices (which can include meat and dairy if requested). Bluefins Sushi & Saki Bar in Chatham is owned by Andy Baler, who owns seafood markets around the Cape and Islands so you can’t get much fresher than that! The Mad Minnow located on Route 28 in Harwichport also sources as much of their ingredients locally as possible. The Clean Slate Eatery in Dennis started as a pop up restaurant that found a permanent location on Route 28 Dennis. Their two fixed (one regular, one vegetarian) ever changing menus feature mostly locally sourced ingredients.

Meet New People

Winter on Cape Cod can cause many of us to go into hibernation mode, closing ourselves up in our home and only go out when it’s absolutely necessary. If you like doing arts and crafts, check out a local Glued event! They are hosted all over the Cape with a variety of projects, making them a very popular event that typically fills up quickly. This is a great way to meet new friends and have fun making a craft in a social environment. The Snowy Owl hosts open mic nights in their Brewster location, which is a great way to enjoy some local music and a great cup of locally roasted coffee. The Harvest Wine Gallery right off of Route 6A in Dennis is a night time hot spot for regular live music, gourmet bar food, fine wine surrounded by amazing art.

Take a Class

The new year brings an opportunity for everyone to focus on self improvement. Maybe you would like to take a class at Cape Cod Community College in a subject that you have always been curious about, or that will advance you professionally. There are many creative courses available to explore your more artistic side at places such as the Cape Cod Conservatory which offers adult courses in art, music, drama and dance. PAAM (the Provincetown Art Association and Museum) located in the art capital of Cape Cod, Provincetown offers a variety of courses and short term workshops for teens and adults to participate in ranging from sculpture, painting and mixed medium.
