Sheep Pond - Brewster Cape Cod
Sheep Pond in Brewster is the cleanest and one of the deepest ponds in town. The water clarity and the predominantly sandy bottom make this an excellent swimming pond. This is a medium-sized, lightly developed 138 acre kettlehole pond that is also perfect for small boats and fishing. It is stocked annually with trout and Atlantic salmon. Sheep Pond got its name as the early European settlers were believed to have grazed their sheep here. Eighty eight acres of woodlands, appropriately called the ‘Sheep Pond Woodlands’, border the northeastern side of the pond, where there is a hiking trail. Boat motors in Brewster are limited to 3hp, which helps maintain the serenity of the area for both residents and visitors.
