Michael Leighton grew up in Rhode Island and began summering on Cape Cod in the 1970s. He attended Rocky Hill School in East Greenwich and was also able to study sophomore year in Madrid at Los Menesianos. He attended college at the Citadel in SC and graduated in 1992 with a BA in history. He was again fortunate to spend his junior year abroad learning German in Vienne, Austria. Upon graduation, he first worked in Boston at Pain Webber and then Fidelity until going into marketing with Chrysler. He moved full time to Cape Cod in 1998 and started his Real Estate career with Coldwell Banker and then Realty Executives. Michael started his own rental firm, Leighton Rentals, in 2005 and then his own brokerage, Leighton Realty, in 2012. He has been the #1 Sales Agent in Brewster since 2007 and #1 in Cape Cod sales since 2020. He merged Leighton Realty with Keller Williams Realty in 2022, forming the Leighton Team.
Michael lives in Brewster with his wife Ann who hails from Wisconsin and teaches Spanish in the Nauset district. He has two teenage aged sons named Alex and Charlie. Alex is going to college soon and Charlie is following his father by spending his sophomore year of High School in Madrid. The family has two rambunctious German Shepherds named Zeus and Apollo who are quite young and “learning”. His latest hobby and interest is horticulture and particularly Japanese Maples. His recent collection is now up to 68 different cultivars which by some miracle are still alive 5 years later!
He is active in local charity as a board member for the Beehive Angels Foundation which helps children and their families in need of health or educational assistance. The foundation has assisted thousands over the last few decades. In addition, Michael & the Leighton Team pride themselves in their connection and support of the Cape Cod community through sponsorships and volunteer work.
Michael believes that a business is formed not by making a sale, but rather by providing exceptional customer service and knowledgeable representation.
